Diwali 2014

October 21, exactly one year.... I was roaming and driving around KL with my Dad. Some things we spoke about and few things we didn't speak about. Last year was a total mixed feeling Diwali mood as B didn't join us in KL. The lanes around Kamdar I walked with dad and the rojak and teh tarik which Appa bought was the bestest. I last chose the shirts for my dad. It was such a tiring and long day as he hired a helper to clean our rooms....and the Pisang goreng he bought....for the family. That I see as a perfect Diwali. I so miss you dad, I know we disagreed on many things but we loved each other. The space you've left is sooo empty and I terribly feel your absence, wherever you are right now, I hope you can see how much I miss you dearly and please ignore silly talks.

Wesak 2013

No mood for this year's celebration. I was really tired after going to Nilai early in the morning around 7.30 am. Before heading to Nilai, we managed a few minutes at Teerthatarasi Siva temple. Thank god I was back home by 12 pm, the freaking traffic jam in KL and the Wesak day chariot procession to be held at night. Later at night just jumped inside the temple for blessings. Just reminiscing last year's fun with Bee :)

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Bee and I just hanging out at Midvalley's . Okay, he says I'm a chinese soul trapped in an Indian body but he's just in love with these chinese traditions. How funneeh is that ?!

Just remembered the awesome lion dance and Bee was super happy at Gentings few years ago. Sigh ! How time flies! I wish I had the time machine with me , right now!

Thai Sukravaram , mangalya pooja.

I cant believe we're the first ones to reach Mariamman temple at Jalan Bandar. Thank god I wasn't falling asleep whilst driving :P

5.50 am and we're eveready for Ambaal abhisekam and I'm just so excited about the entire process of the mangalya pooja done (definitely with ambaal's blessings!). My modern Iyer was all set running around temple to purchase garland and milk for abishekam.

I must say, it was one of the most beautiful abishekam and we're just overjoyed! It was almost 8 am when we had good hot ponggal and as usual Bee did not eat as he planned to visit Ramalinga temple. Okay , I'm privilleged now, Parvathavarthini ambaal's blessings came along as it was almost 9 am when we reached Bangsar.

It's wedding season and what can I say about the parking space in KL. Another wedding and guess what, the muhurtham was just came as a surprise or I call magical, right after we completed the archana.

Thank you Mom and Bee!!! Oh...the comedy of the day, mom lost her new pair branded shoes, I had to make another round back to Jln Bandar and discovered Changkat Stadium Road which took me back to Jalan Sultan. Mom and Bee took the mag's prize and it was 10 am by the time we reached home.

Phew.......what a beautiful day and I just zzzzz........mid day , I'm just so tired! Uh........Boy's birthday!

BHOGI PONGAL / MAKARA SANKRANTHI 2013

The Indian Thanksgiving festival of  the South India, particularly Tamil Nadu is known as Thai Pongal :) Thai is a tamil month where the sun travels to north from the southern most limit i.e. it's the beginning of  the first 6 months of  Uttarayana.

The concept is simple as to those days people lived on farming. Therefore after moonsoon and winter, it's the harvesting festival. Therefore we thank the Sun god for providing us food all along the year. The Thai month is the beginning of the auspicious month for marriages too.

Every year pongal festival holds a very special memory :) Mom and I was interviewed in the local newspaper  couple of  years ago before I was married!

Since January is very close to our heart, each and every day is a memorable day of my travel to India. I know I did not do much in the US but this year though Bee is faraway, I decorated my pooja room as much as I could and hey, guess what.............. found a mango leaf resembling Ganesha's trunk!

Wishing all of  you  a bright and prosperous year. Happy Pongal ! Now, I cant wait for  our lunar new year!!!

Happy New Year !

HELLO  2013 !  Love you sunshine, bring me good luck, happiness and great health. Keep us united as kind, understanding and wisdom loving souls. May this year be a better and bestest year for all of us ! Hope all of  you had a great journey , the good, the bad and the ugly 2012 is past now!

2013 is the only new year my Bee and I are away. That's alright because we have a cause and though we are far by distance, yet we are close by heart. We're together in spirit and missed each other. The best part is we are not going to celebrate our New 2013 on January 1st but , keeping our fingers crossed , we are hoping for the best Ugadi/Chittrai Putthandu. :)

Here's a toast for all the good sons/daughters on earth, who have taken a lot of  pains, who have put  in a lot  of  efforts , who have stood alone by their  hardwork to achieve things, who have undergone tremendous health problems to face challenges of  life , people who stood by their self-respect and principles...........BRAVO and remember that each and every sweat of  our hard work and good behaviour will certainly be awarded by the super power up above one fine day. My word on all the wounded hearts , remember that each of  us face some kind of  problem or obstacles in life, NEVER GIVE UP. Fight till you overcome the hurdles.

I have learnt my lessons and experiences over the  years. I may not be a millionaire by wealth , but certainly I know that I have a heart , big enough to consider the right and wrong things. I'm so proud of  my  Bee, we chose to be away this year to take care of  our parents. The biggest compliment I got was elderly people saying that no one can be a good daughter like me.

I do have my own frustrations , I know I'm too polite , I tolerate people very easily. I dont try to please people but that was my nature since childhood. I dont complain on people. When the entire world talks about something, I remain silent. My silence might be a plus or minus but let it be.

Here's wishing all of  you a great new year and hey, it's time to restart our life with fresh mind, fresh hope and fresh attitude. Keep fighting against all the odds. Life is beautiful , live life to fullest. I love you Bee.

Arudra Darshan 2012

This year I'm just going to make it no matter what ! Woke up by 3 am and was in Sri Ramalingeshwara temple, Bangsar by 4.30 am.

We're truly blessed to watch Arudra darshan ( Arudra means Tiruvathirai nakshatra = a star in tamil ). This is where Lord Nataraja ( Shiva ) performed his cosmic dance in fire. So, we watched Nataraja swamy abisheka and read Tiruvempa verses. It was almost 2 pm we returned home after having lunch in the temple. My only disappointment was Bee's not around.

Beautiful decoration.

Bangsar , early morning!
Nevertheless, I thank god, I've completed this task for 2012.

Deepavali / Diwali 2012

It's gonna be our thala deepavali teeheee.... but not by years ! Brickfields is a wrong planning by a group of  wrong people ! From where did such crowd turned up ? Okay , as usual we had our very last minute shopping , glad that we bought good stuffs and watching the fireworks was a lot fun ! Murukku muchings and pleasant evening spent visiting Ramalingeswara temple. Deepavali this year was the best compared to last 4 years back in US. Ended up playing firecrackers with the neighbour kids :)

Ganesh Chathurthi Sep 19th, 2012

I got up so early , last night I slept off  when the clock  ticked off 3 am. I was exhausted after the shopping @ Little India. Speak about the crowd, I truly miss my childhood place , the people and the decent environment. Cissy helped me to carry the stuffs and by 10 pm we've reached home. Somehow I had the energy to clean up the altar and sort things out.

My second Ganesha
Today morning was quite challenging as cooking naivedhyams took all my time. By 10.35 am I started Ganesha and completed my 2nd Mangala Gauri vratham. I was just tired by noon.

The day's gonna be super hectic later as mom , boy , Sheg mams and myself  went to Masjid India :) Within half and hour boy dropped us off home and rushed for an interview By the time I came home, my first Ganesha wasn't in the right shape :(  No, I'm going to make another one. The white Ganesha , everyone at home just loved him as he looked more of  Bala Ganapathi.

Our head priest Ganesh on chariot, he missed Bee as he wanted Bee to sit on this chariot, Bee you've missed your golden chance! Hope we fulfill this another time soon.

My astonishingly beautiful Pillaiyar.
The evening scenario was - yes, he was offered job in Astro and then Neelacca came, I successfully gave the planned tamboolams and everyone including mom went to Ganesha temple. The final one, okay I am going to temple ( 9 ish then )....... I gave  Sarada's mom! Temple was so crowded and I received a cute yellow garland. Karpaga Pillayar looked astonishingly beautiful, grand. I cant stop admiring his beauty. Since the chariot left at 7.30 pm, I walked all by myself to meet mom at MGS school junction. To my surprise I met my schoolmate Kumoo family, Moorthy aunty and the whole bunch of known faces. We were too tired then. By 11.30 we came home and gosh...........I could feel my bones. End of the day, I'm happy that my vratham completed successfully....the joy of seeing Ganesha in KL, that's like after 5 years....the last chathurthi in 2006 , the day I stepped out of home recovering the viral fever, only to see Ganesha:)

The day is over, here I am writing up reminiscing good old memories of growing pains in Kuala Lumpur , the bitter sweet memories and the glorious days. I first danced at Pillaiyar temple when I was 5 ! We still have the right of first kids of  the temple! Bee just passed on a good news from Phoenix, Az.....:)) Well, lot more good things I'm awaiting for, the recent one is the farewell party of a green monster and yes, I will be bidding her a safe good bye! Thank you Pillaiyar, you've printed a bag of memories this year. Bless us for successful years ahead. Happy Birthday Ganapathi!!!

Varalakshmi Vratham 2012

This year I am blessed with a chance of performing the Varalakshmi Vratham at my mom's place ( July 27th 2012 ). Total marathon of running around the KL and Brickfields , I should thank my Bee for gifting me with a precious piece of long garland :) You know what I mean and yes , we took great effort to decorate ambaal in our altar. Overall, I wouldn't say it's a grand day but we managed completing the pooja traditionally, that what matters above all! Thanks to Amma for being there and guiding me.Here , some feast to the eye!

Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2010

I'm glad that this year I'm able to do something for Krishna ! That's like after 4 years !! I so miss my home in Brickfields , the aura and the grand celebrations , oh......the garlands and our beautiful Krishna temple !

Thank god for the fact I did not join and do my puja , the mistake I've done in doing this year Varalakshmi vratham , however I'm contended that I've helped Kalpana to successfully do the puja and that she's overwhelmed with the puja. At least I made someone happy !

It's a total surprise for Bunny seeing the baby feet of  Krishna Paramatma ! :) I knew how painful it was to sit down and trying to do on carpets !

Krishna , without your blessings , this would have never been possible - after 4 years !

Always in love with you , your namam......"Om Namo Bagavathe Vasudevaya" , all glories at your feet !

Beautiful evening , wrapped in thick fat jackets , we decided to get some Malaysian spirit by attending the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco. It was an awesome evening for all of us , we returned home with big smiles and Macy's coupons as gift  Angpows :))
